Chief Chhetri heading for India today

Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri is leaving for a week-long official visit to India on Sunday. This will be his maiden foreign trip after assuming office as the chief of Nepali Army in September last year. A Cabinet meeting yesterday endorsed CoAS General Chhetri’s visit to India from January 31 to February 6. According to Army Spokesperson Brigadier Tara Bahadur Karki, General Chhetri will be conferred a honorary title of Indian Chief of Army, a customary practice between Nepal and India of honoring each-other’s army chiefs. Karki said the details of his visit were being worked out and would be announced soon.

Load shedding increases to 13 hrs a day

The Nepal Electricity Authority on Sunday said it increased load shedding to 13 hours a day, or 91 hours a week, effective from Monday, February 1. Earlier, the power outage since January 4 was for 84 hours a week, or 12 hours a day on an average. According to the new schedule, the consumers would see darkness for 13 hours a day everyday in two shifts.
